Advisor Publications Announces Security Advisor Magazine

Posted on September 15, 1997

Security Advisor is a new magazine devoted to assuring the safety, integrity, privacy and availability of enterprise information systems. The magazine focuses on Microsoft Windows NT and other leading networks and platforms, including Windows 95/98, UNIX, Macintosh, NetWare, host systems, hardware and applications.

Premiering in late January, 1998, Security Advisor is a full-color magazine with a wide array of technical and management articles including user spotlight stories, how-to columns, deep technical articles, case studies, tips, answers to reader questions, and comprehensive product information.

Security Advisor magazine will be supplemented by a special section of advisor.com, a Web site that provides online resources for IT professionals. Security will be a major topic at ADVISOR DEVCONs in 1998 and beyond.

"The battle to maintain security never ends. The Pharaohs of ancient Egypt devised deadly traps to keep intruders out, yet their tombs were raided repeatedly," said John L. Hawkins, editor-in-chief of Security Advisor magazine and president of Advisor Publications. "Violating today's computer-based business world is even easier. Malicious outsiders and unscrupulous or even careless employees instantly can do great harm."
