2005 Hugo Shortlist is Announced

The Hugo Awards (also known as the Science Fiction Achievement Awards) shortlist has been announced. The nominations for Best Novel are:
- The Algebraist by Iain M. Banks (Orbit)
- Iron Council by China Mieville (Del Rey),
- Iron Sunrise by Charles Stross (Ace)
- Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke (Bloomsbury)
- River of Gods by Ian McDonald (Simon & Schuster).
