ifilm Unveils Film Portal and Web Directory

Posted on May 10, 2000

ifilm has launched its film portal and directory, with editorial information and links to more than 4000 Internet films, it was announced by ifilm co-founder and CEO Kevin Wendle.

``Every week there are dozens of sites adding hundreds of new films on the Web, yet until now there was no single place to find all the best films from all the best sites,'' said Wendle. ``Our editorial and programming teams have spent months categorizing and contextualizing the thousands of Internet films to deliver the best perspective and simplest viewing experience for consumers.''

ifilm will continue to provide a free, open platform for filmmakers, while for the first time providing information about and links to every major broadband content provider. In addition, ifilm has entered into ``premiere partner'' agreements with AlwaysI, Eveo, HonkWorm, Icebox, NibbleBox, RSUB, ReelShort, Urban Entertainment and WireBreak.com. Each of these companies will provide ifilm with weekly content updates in exchange for a more favored showcase for their content, including links from ifilm's home page.

In addition to the film links, the new directory includes links to numerous websites in the film category, including links to film news, schools, festivals, reviews, film trailers, studios, production houses, costume designers, actors and directorse. ifilm's editors have expanded their editorial efforts to include additional features targeted to consumers and Internet filmmakers including how-to's on shooting and editing for the 'net, as well as recommendations of the best Internet partner sites and best online film festivals.
