Fiction and nonfiction must be up to 8,500 words. Poems can be between 6 and 12 pages. Be sure to double-space your fiction and nonfiction. You can submit online and by mail.

The standard entry fee is $25 and includes a one-year subscription to the Missouri Review in digital format, a digital copy of the latest title in the Missouri Review Books imprinta short story anthology by former contributors.

Winners will be announced in early 2026. Stories from past winners can be found on the website at the end of the guidelines.
