The Boston Review annual poetry contest has a different theme each year. The winner will be announced in the fall on the Boston Review website.

The winning author receives $500 plus publication in the Boston Review.

Entries are only accepted through Submittable. Simultaneous submissions are not permitted.

The judge for the 2019 contest was Ladan Osman and the 2019 theme was "allies." The description for the theme asks the thought-provoking questions: "How do we know who is on our side? Is it possible for someone who is not like us to share our same hopes? Can links forged by empathy or mutual interest match those created by shared experience? What can we gain from alliances that we cannot achieve on our own?"

A list of previous winning poems are available on the site.
