The Boston Review annual poetry contest has a different theme each year. The winner will be announced in the fall on the Boston Review website.

The winning author receives $500 plus publication in the Boston Review.

Entries are only accepted through Submittable. Simultaneous submissions are not permitted.

The judge for the 2020 contest is Ivelisse Rodriguez and the 2020 theme is "ancestors." The description for the theme asks the thought-provoking questions: "Who are your people? Who made you who you are? What about you only makes sense to someone who knows where you’re from? What’s a secret about your past?"

A list of previous winning poems are available on the site.
