Welcome to the October Issue! This month's issue is a really exciting one. We have added a new feature to the magazine: The HowToWeb® Update. The Update, published bi-monthly, is your guide to interesting and useful websites. Each issue has its own theme. This issue's focus is U.S. newspapers online. Almost all major U.S. newspapers have made the move online with varying degrees of success. This issue lists the ones that provide something a little different for their readers that makes them a worthwhile read.We are expanding our book review section to include all genres. In November, look for romance novel reviews from our new romance reviewer, Barbara Paschall-Averitt. This month's interviews have something for everyone. Former ABC lead investigative journalist Peter Lance, author of First Degree Burn, shares his secrets for writing a fascinating mystery/thriller; screenwriter and educator Skip Press gives the inside scoop on writing in Hollywood, and popular sci-fi and fantasy author, Melisa Michaels, talks about writing fantasy novels and gives tips for aspiring authors. Our articles this month give a wealth of advice: Robin Miller, whose column This Old PC is featured in The Netly News, gives tips for buying a computer on the cheap, popular novelist and author Lary Crews gives advice for men trying to write from a female point of view, freelance writer James M. Powles shares one of his secrets for writing historical nonfiction articles and copyeditor and freelance writer Sharon Boddy gives college students hope in learning to write that all-important essay. Thanks for stopping by! See you in November! Claire E. White Editor-in-Chief Gregory A. Knollenberg President, Writers Write, Inc. |
