Twitter Says it Has 100 Million Active Users

Twitter announced in a blog post today that it has 100 million active users. Twitter says 40% of its active users don't tweet - they just sign in to read tweets and get the latest news and information. Here are some other tidbits from Twitter's post:
- 35 global heads of state use Twitter as a primary way to communicate with their constituencies.
- Two-thirds of the NBA use Twitter.
- Over 99 percent of America's top 200 non-profits are on Twitter
- Most newsrooms actively use Twitter.
- 87% of Billboard's Top 100 musicians of 2010 are active on Twitter
By comparison, Facebook claims 750 million users.
