Trove of Walt Whitman Documents Discovered in National Archives

Posted on April 13, 2011

Kenneth Price, professor of English at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and co-editor of the Walt Whitman Archive, has discovered more than 3,000 documents in Whitman's handwriting in the records of the Department of Justice. The documents include letters, telegrams, memos and other documents. Price says scholars will have to determine whether Whitman was simply a scribe or whether he contributed to the composition of some of the documents. You can read more about the discovery here.
