Tom Hanks Snags Lead in The Da Vinci Code

Posted on November 18, 2004

Newsweek reports that producer Brian Grazer and director Ron Howard, the Oscar-winning team who made A Beautiful Mind have asked Oscar-winner Tom Hanks to portray scholar Robert Langdon in the film version of Dan Brown's bestseller, The Da Vinci Code. It's an interesting choice and one that should work quite well, although it was a bit of a surprise since it was assumed Russell Crowe had a lock on the role. The last we heard, Akiva Goldsman will still write the screenplay.
