SNL Cold Open: President Obama's Social Media Campaign Goes into Overdrive

Posted on March 30, 2014

Louis C.K. hosted Saturday Night Live last night. For the Cold Open the SNL writers took aim at President Obama's social media offensive to increase sign ups for healthcare at healthcare.gov. In this skit, the president (Jay Pharoah) agrees to increasingly silly social media stunts in order to get young people to sign up.

He poses for a photo with Kim Kardashian and Harry Styles, he dances with Pope Francis for a Vine video and even agrees to kiss Justin Bieber (Kate McKinnon). All the while his aide (Taran Killam) spins him sadder and sadder stories of people without healthcare so he will agree to the promotions. Kate's Bieber is spot on.
