Orwell Prize Shortlist Includes Late War Reporter

The finalists for The Orwell Prize, an annual Brisih prize for political writing, have been announced. Marie Catherine Colvin, an American journalist who reported for The Sunday Times, is one of the finalists in the book category. She was killed in Homs while covering the war in Syria. Here is a list of the book finalists:

• On the Front Line by Marie Colvin (HarperPress)
• Leaving Alexandria by Richard Holloway (Canongate Books)
• From the Ruins of the Empire by Pankaj Mishra (Allen Lane)
• Occupation Diaries by Raja Shehadeh (Profile Books)
• Injustice by Clive Stafford Smith (Harvill Secker)
• A Very British Killing by AT Williams (Jonathan Cape)

The Orwell Prize also includes awards for journalism and blogging.
