Obama Launches Big Bird Ad, PBS Wants it Taken Down

Posted on October 9, 2012

Mitt Romney said in the first debate that he loves Big Bird, but he would cut funding to PBS.

I'm sorry, Jim, I'm going to stop the subsidy to PBS. I'm going to stop other things. I like PBS, I love Big Bird. Actually like you, too. But I'm not going to -- I'm not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for. That's number one.
President Obama has responded with a campaign ad that features Big Bird. PBS says they have approved no campaign ads and want it taken down: "esame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns. We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down."
