Posted on March 30, 2015
The Fancy Nancy series written by Jane O'Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser is going to become an animated movie and series on Disney Junior. The New York Times bestselling series has sold over 28 million books. It is geared towards kids aged 2-7. It follows the adventures of a girl who likes to be fancy in everything she does. This includes her creative wardrobe and her advanced vocabulary.
The Disney Junior TV show and series are slated to premiere in 2017. There will also be a line of consumer products from Disney Consumer Products. The products will include role-play items. HarperCollins and Disney Publishing will also collaborate on book editions based on the television series.
Author Jane O'Conner says in a statement, "This is definitely one of those 'pinch me' moments. When Robin and I met Nancy Kanter and her team, we knew instantly that Disney Junior was the plus-perfect home for Fancy Nancy."
Illustrator Preiss Glasser says, "After the thrill of seeing my two-dimensional drawings of Nancy and her 'world' come alive in spin-off musicals and ballets, the opportunity to see her animated by Disney is a dream I never would have dared to dream!"
