Cat Fancy and Dog Fancy Become Catster and Dogster

Posted on December 5, 2014

Cat Fancy and Dog Fancy are going to undergo a major named change and become Catster and Dogster. I-5 Publishing acquired Catster and Dogster websites from Say Media earlier this year and acquired the Fancy magazines last year. This enabled this to give the magazines the new titles. Catster and Dogster also have online communities for pet owners.

Folio reports that subscribers of Cat Fancy and Dog Fancy will be transfered to the new magazines when they launch next year. Dogster arrives first in February 2015 and Catster arrives in March 2015. The print magazines will be published bimonthly. Each magazine will cost $19.95 a year. Folio says the circulation goals for the magazines are 200,000.

Sr. Editorial Director Melissa Kauffman says in the announcement, "Our pets share our lives and we share our life adventures on social media, websites and magazines. With Catster and Dogster magazines we bring all that into our pages with expert advice, pet owners' opinions, obsessions, confessions, wanna-buy products and funny photos - everything pet owners want and love. We get it, because we are passionate about pets, too."

I-5 Publishing was founded in 2013 by Mark Harris and David Fry. It is headquartered in Irving, Calif. The company owns a number of other pet and animal brands including Horse Illustrated, Aquarium USA, Chickens, Rabbits USA and Your New Horse.
