Barnes & Noble Announces Winners of Discover Great New Writers Awards

Barnes & Noble Inc. has announced the winners of the 21st annual Discover Great New Writers Awards. The first place winners were awarded a cash prize of $10,000 an year of marketing and merchandise support from Barnes & Noble. The second place winners were awarded a $5,000 prize and the third place winners were awarded a $2,500 prize.

- 2011 Discover Awards for Nonfiction: Kosher Chinese by Michael Levy (Henry Holt & Co.)
- Fiction: Turn of Mind by Alice LaPlante (Grove/Atlantic)
- Nonfiction: Day of Honey by Annia Ciezadlo (Free Press)
- Fiction: Volt by Alan Heathcock (Graywolf Press) for fiction
- Nonfiction: [sic]: a Memoir by Joshua Cody (W. W. Norton & Co.)
