2011 Southern Independent Book Award Winners Announced

The winners of the 2011 Southern Independent Book Awards have been announced. The awards honor southern writing in six categories. Here is a list of the winners.

• Children's: Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskine (Puffin Books)
• Cooking: Southern My Way by Gena Knox (Gena Knox Media, LLC)
• Fiction: Burning Bright by Ron Rash (Ecco Press)
• Nonfiction: The Blueberry Years by Jim Minick (Thomas Dunne Books)
• Poetry: A House of Branches by Janisse Ray (Wind Publications)
• Young Adult: Countdown by Deborah Wiles (Scholastic)
