Quentin Tarantino Thanks His Writing Group in Golden Globes Acceptance Speech for Best Screenplay

Quentin Tarantino 2013 Golden Globes


Quentin Tarantino seemed genuinely surprised to win the Golden Globe for Best Screenplay - Motion Picture for Django Unchained. Tarantino beat out Tony Kushner for Lincoln, Mark Boal for Zero Dark Thirty, David O. Russell for Silver Linings Playbook, and Chris Terrio for Argo. The acceptance speeches at the Globes tend to get more enthusiastic as the night goes on and more cases of Moet & Chandon have been consumed (you could see numerous upended empty champagne bottles on the tables). In his speech Tarantino thanked his writing group profusely -- we don't recall seeing anyone do that before. He joked that their job is only to listen -- they certainly don't get to give him any feedback. He explained that he needs his group as part of his writing process. After he writes a scene he reads it aloud to the group to see how it sounds. Take a look:
