ClueFest 99 Plano, TX
July 10 - 12
ClueFest, for its eighth annual conclave, will be having Peter Robinson and Carole Nelson Douglas as the Fiction Guests of Honor, and Tony Fennely as the Toastmistress. There will be dealer's rooms, book signings, author and expert panels, and a Mystery Book Auction to benefit the Dallas Public Library.

Contests

Korbel is searching for the ultimate toast. The grand prize: a trip for two to New York's Times Square for the Millennium celebration on December 31, 1999. Contestants need to write an original toast of 50 words or less to be judged on originality, creativity, sentiment and eloquence. Final Draft is running a screenwriting competition. You could win $5,000, roundtrip airfare to Los Angeles and have your screenplay represented by a Hollywood Literary Agent. The Entry Deadline for scripts is August 21, 1999.

The 2nd Nat.'l Steinbeck Center Short Story Competition is titled "All's Fair in Love & War." There is a $1,000 1st prize with an entry fee of $15. The deadline in June 11, 1999. Visit the website for complete details.
