Description: An anthology of pulp-style detective/crime stories

Needs: Looking for gritty mysteries, crime noir, and especially 20s, 30s, and 40s period mystery, all with the lurid pulp style to it. While this genre is mainly intended to increase awareness and appreciation of this style of mystery, we will accept submissions with fantastic, futuristic, or erotic elements. Be advised, however, these types will be purchased selectively.

Length: 4,000 to 7,000 words. No more, no less.

Rights: First North American Serial Rights

Payment: A standard percentage of royalties plus one copy of the book.

Tips: If submitting a period piece be sure to check your facts, paying special attention to fashion, dialogue, and technology. Have a good understanding of the period in which you write regardless of when it is. No anachronisms unless there is an excellent reason for it. No simultaneous submissions, no reprints. Multiple subs okay so long as you understand no author will have more than one story appearing in the anthology.

How to Submit: Send subs to In the subject line type Touch of Noir submission. Include in your cover letter contact information such as your name, mailing address, and email address. Also include word count and a short list of publication credits. Four blank lines below your closing paste the story. No email attachments will be accepted.
