Needs: Virginia Adversaria accepts submissions of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Fiction and poetry are open to any genre, as long as the piece is tasteful (i.e. not sexually graphic or extremely profane). Non-fiction themes vary from anecdotes and true stories related to life in Virginia to any subject of interest to Virginian residents. We feature primarily Virginian authors, but are open to all submissions. Pieces have been accepted from Canada, Hawaii, and North Carolina already. To best understand what we are looking for, it is recommended to read the journal first.

Length: No minimum requirement; maximum is 6000 words.

Rights: Virginia Adversaria purchases one-time rights. Rights revert to the author after publication.

Payment: Authors will be compensated for all material used in Virginia Adversaria. Remuneration will be one cent per word (up to $60) and a contributorís copy of the magazine in which the piece appears. Payment will be made upon publication._x000D_

Tips: Beginning writers have had success sending short vignettes (500-1500 words) for the Reflections column.

How to Submit: Manuscripts should be typed and double-spaced with authorís name and page number on each page. Send complete manuscript along with a cover letter and SASE to:
