Description: Ninth Letter is a collaborative arts and literary project published semi-annually at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. It is produced by the Creative Writing Program and School of Art & Design. Ninth Letter's mission is "to present original literary writing of exceptional quality, illuminated by cutting-edge graphic design."

Needs: Fiction, poetry and essays.

Length: up to 8,000 words for fiction and essays. Send 3-6 poems (max 10 pages) for poetry.

Payment: $25 per printed page and two contributor copies

Tips: They have reading periods for fiction, poetry, essays during select months of the year.

How to Submit: Ninth Letter accepts submissions through its Submittable page. They don't accept email submissions and strongly recommending using the submissions portal. They write that hard-copy submissions may experience a long delay in response.
