Description: A literary journal based at Emerson College in downtown Boston. Ploughshares also publishes a Ploughshares Solos series of digital-first long stories and essays.

Needs: Ploughshares welcomes unsolicited submissions of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction during its regular reading period from June 1 to January 15.
Length: Fiction and Nonfiction: Under 6,000 words. Poetry: 1-5 pages
Payment: $45/printed page, $90 minimum per title, $450 maximum per author. Payment is upon publication. Authors also receives two contributor copies of the issue and a one-year subscription.
Tips: The reading period is from June 1 through January 15. A short cover letter is encouraged. Digital submissions are greatly preferred to mailed submissions.
