Versaware To Publish Digital Textbooks For Wiley

Posted on January 5, 2001

Versaware Inc., a provider of epublishing services and retail, announced that it would be expanding its current relationship with John Wiley & Sons, Inc., Higher Education Publishing to deliver online ebook versions of their most popular textbooks. The initial group of titles, scheduled for release in the summer of 2001 includes books from disciplines including science, business, information technology and psychology. Versaware has previously developed CD/ROM Versabook editions for several of Wiley's textbooks, which are currently sold bundled with print editions.

These new online textbook editions will be offered individually for sale, as interactive alternatives to the print textbooks. The textbook titles will be sold initially only through Versaware's eBookCity, but other distribution outlets may be added at a later date. Versaware's Versabook format enables students to store research results, class notes and other documents within ebooks.

Rich Wohl, General Manager of Versaware's Education Division, said, ``We are delighted to be expanding our relationship with Wiley. Clearly, the advantages for students to use online versions for textbooks is tremendous and, we are pleased to be working with Wiley to deliver these services to its customers.''
