The Industry Standard Announces Editorial Expansion

The Industry Standard has recently announced a series of major editorial hires. James Fallows will join The Standard as a regular columnist, writing every other week. Fallows career has included stints as editor-in-chief of US News & World Report and Washington editor of The Atlantic Monthly.

"James Fallows' outstanding work as a journalist speaks for itself, and I have admired his writing and editing accomplishments for many years," said Jonathan Weber, Editor-In-Chief of The Industry Standard and "He's long had a personal interest in technology and its impact on society, and he will bring a new style of journalistic inquiry to coverage of the Internet Economy."

The other new hires include Amy Bernstein, editorial director of Brill's Content, who will join The Standard as executive news editor; Thomas Goetz, formerly of the Wall Street Journal, who has joined as New York News Editor; Miguel Helft, formerly responsible for Microsoft coverage at the San Jose Mercury News, who will be a Senior Writer; Ken Li of the New York Daily News, who will be a New York-based staff writer; Joshua Macht, formerly of Inc. Magazine, who has assumed the role of senior editor for special projects and features; and Vince Bielski, formerly of PC World, who will be a senior editor responsible for The Standard's growing family of e-mail newsletters.

In addition, Weber announced that Polly Sprenger, formerly of Wired News, will join The Standard as London correspondent, marking the publication's first move overseas. Michael Parsons, formerly executive news editor, has been promoted to executive editor in charge of all online operations. Jane Goldman, formerly editor in chief of California Lawyer magazine, has also been promoted to executive editor.
