Meredith Corporation to Cease Publishing More Magazine

Posted on March 11, 2016

More magazine will end with the April 2016 issue. Publisher Meredith Corporation has decided to end the women's lifestyle magazine after 19 years due to declining advertising. The magazine has 30 employees. Actress Diane Lane covered the March 2016 issue.

The editors of More shared the following message on the publication's Facebook page: "Dear readers, it is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the closing of MORE with the April issue. We have loved every day of producing this incredible magazine about incredible women for you--and wish we could continue to do so. Thank you for your stories, passion, support, opinions, interaction and inspiration for the past 19 years."

The Des Moines Register reports that the magazine had a rate base circulation of 750,000 as of June 2015. The publication was started in 1997. It reached an affluent female audience.

Meredith says in a statement, "Despite a significant investment in More in 2015 - including an increased trim size and higher quality paper stock that aligned it with its upscale and affluent audience - More continued to face advertising challenges in the luxury marketplace."

Subscription Insider calls the closing of More the "the first high-profile shuttering of a magazine in 2016."
