Former President George W. Bush Takes the Ice Bucket Challenge, Challenges Bill Clinton

Posted on August 20, 2014

Former President George W. Bush was challenged by several people, including golfer Rory McIlroy and his daughter Jenna Bush Hager, to take the ALS ice bucket challenge.

The challenge has been sweeping the country with celebrities, athletes and politicians gamely dumping a bucket of ice water over their heads (and usually writing a check to the charity, as well). President Obama wrote a check and declined to dump ice water on his head, which is probably a wise decision from a sitting president. Vin Diesel challenged President Vladimir Putin to take the challenge, but the Russian president says he is too busy. And we were sure he'd do it shirtless.

But Bush is out of office, so he got challenged. In this video the former president is relaxing at his home in Maine enjoying his summer. He talks about the challenge, which has helped raise millions of dollars to fight ALS, which is more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Bush explains that he doesn't think it's presidential of him to get splashed with a bucket of ice water, so he says he's writing a check instead. He begins to write the check when Laura Bush shows up and dumps a bucket of ice water on his head. Laura, who looks lovely without a hair out of place, says that the check is actually from her: she doesn't want to ruin her hairstyle.

Bush nominated former president Bill Clinton to take the challenge. He noted that yesterday was President Clinton's birthday, and this was his gift to Clinton: a bucket of ice water. Surely Bill Clinton can't refuse this challenge? Take a look at the very funny video:
