101communications Acquires Syllabus Press

101communications, LLC has announced that it has acquired Syllabus Press, Inc., publisher of Syllabus Magazine, a publication covering technology for the higher end of the education market. Syllabus Press also conducts conferences and workshops on education technology. John Noon, founder and president of Syllabus, will join 101communications and continue in his role as publisher of the Syllabus properties.

"101's initial magazine and conference acquisitions have established our presence as an information provider in the software developer community", said Curt Hessler, 101's chairman and CEO. "For a decade, Syllabus has been a respected source of information on technology in higher education. We're proud to make John Noon and the Syllabus products part of the 101 family as we strive to serve the technology needs of specific vertical industries."

Syllabus Magazine is in its tenth year of publication. Its mission is to inform educators on how technology can be used to support their teaching, learning, and administrative activities. Regular features cover multimedia, distance learning, the Internet, quantitative tools, publishing and administrative technology on a variety of platforms, including: computers, video, multimedia and telecommunications equipment. Special supplements to Syllabus are published on a regular basis, including Computer Science, Engineering, Science and Medicine, Arts and Humanities, and the Social Sciences.

101communications, was formed in December of 1998. Through an acquisition program, 101 is building a portfolio of specialized information services and media that serve digital professionals and the information technology vendors who market to them. 101 acquisitions to date include: Application Development Trends and the SIGS Publications group which publishes: Java Report, C++ Report and JOOP in the US, as well as JAVA(spektrum and OBJECTspektrum in Germany and the Application Development Advisor in the United Kingdom.
