The Boss Baby Wins Box Office for Second Straight Weekend

The Boss Baby was the top film in theaters again this weekend. It added $26.3 million to bring its total gross to $89.3 million after two weekends. Beauty and the Beast continues to thrive adding another $25 million during its fourth weekend. It is the year's top grossing film in the U.S. so far. It has made $432 million.

The Boss Baby and Beauty and the Beast holding the top two slots means the new arrivals did not do as well as they should have. Smurfs: The Lost Village opened in third with an opening of $14 million. It has a strong A CinemaScore. Going in Style opened in fourth and made $12.5 million. Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin plot a bank robbery in the comedy adventure film. It has a B+ CinemaScore.

Going in Style was followed by Ghost in the Shell which plunged over 60% during its second weekend in theaters. It made $7.3 million. Ghost in the Shell was followed by Power Ranges, Kong: Skull Island, Logan and Get Out.

The Case for Christ had a weak opening in tenth place. It made $3.9 million in 1,174 theaters. You can view the box office chart for the weekend here. Boss Baby and Beauty and the Beast will be cleared out of the top slots by The Fate of the Furious when it opens next weekend. Other openers will include Spark: A Space Tail, The Lost City of Z and Norman.
