Mel Gibson Stars in First Blood Father Trailer

Mel Gibson stars in the first trailer for Blood Father, which is based on the 2006 novel by Peter Craig. Gibson plays John Link, an ex-con who finally meets his estranged daughter Lydia (Erin Moriarty).She was raised by her mother and a series of stepfathers, but now she's landed on Link's door with a bunch of bad guys on her tail. Oh, and she murdered a guy.

It's a little late, but Link has decided it's time to be a good father. This includes sheltering has 16 year old trouble magnet from furious drug dealers who love their violence. William H. Macy co-stars as Link's AA sponsor and best friend Kirby Curtis. Elisabeth Rohm, Diego Luna, Thomas Mann, Dale Dickey and Raoul Max Trujillo.

The film promises lots of violence and excellent acting, with Gibson sporting a spectacularly impressive beard. Who could ask for more? The film hits theaters on August 12th. Take a look:
