Batman v. Superman Sets March Opening Record

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice dominated the box office this weekend with a $166 million opening. This was a record weekend opening for March. It is also the best opening for a DC Comics film. The film has also made $420 million worldwide. This is the 4th biggest global opening of all time.

Moviegoers to Batman v. Superman ignored the negative reviews as they stormed theaters. The film has a dismal 28% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It has a B CinemaScore.

Batman v. Superman was followed by Zootopia, which has now made $240 million after just four weekends in theaters. It was followed by My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, which had a solid third place opening and made $17.8 million. The comedy has an A- CinemaScore.

Miracles from Heaven finished fourth and added $9.6 million during its second weekend in theaters. The Divergent Series: Allegiant continued its weaker than expected path. It made just $9.4 million during its second weekend and fell over 67% from its opening weekend.

Batman v. Superman has a good chance of continuing its dominance this coming weekend. It will be up against Everybody Wants Some and God's Not Dead 2.
