The Writer Magazine to Go On Hiatus as Publisher Seeks Buyer

Posted on July 30, 2012

The WriterThe Writer magazine is going on hiatus after 125 years. The Journal Sentinel reports that the magazine's Wisconsin-based publisher, Kalmbach Publishing, is putting the magazine up for sale. The hiatus will begin with the October 2012 issue. The magazine recently celebrated its 125th anniversary.

The Writer editor Jeff Reich issued the following email statement to contributors: "I'm sorry to announce that The Writer magazine will go on hiatus after the October 2012 issue, which is in production now. Kalmbach Publishing Co., which owns The Writer, is currently looking for a buyer for the magazine, and our hope is that The Writer will re-emerge under the careful stewardship of a new owner."

This is sad news. We hope The Writer will find a new home soon.
