CW Green Lights The Carrie Diaries Series

Posted on September 13, 2011

The CW has green lit a project to make a tv series out of Candace Bushnell's novel, The Carrie Diaries. The young adult novel is a prequel to Sex and the City. It follows Bushnell's Carrie Bradshaw character during her high school days.

The Hollywood Reporter says Amy B. Harris, who wrote for HBO's Sex and the City is attached to write the CW series.

Two Carrie Bradshaw prequel books have been published: The Carrie Diaries and Summer and the City: A Carrie Diaries Book. The second novel is about Carrie Bradshaw's first trip to New York City. Both novels are published by Harper Teen.

The project could be big for CW if it gets even half as much interest as Sex and the City did for HBO. The search will now be on to find an actress that can play the young Carrie Bradshaw. She's going to have to resemble Sarah Jessica Parker to be believable.
