Bryan Cranston Writing Memoir for Scribner

Posted on April 3, 2014

Bryan Cranston, star of the Emmy-winning series Breaking Bad has inked a deal with Scribner to write a memoir. The book will be published in the fall of 2015. Simon & Schuster Audio will publish the audio book at the same time. Cranston was amazing in the role of Walter White in Breaking Bad and is now starring on Broadway as Lyndon B. Johnson in the play All the Way.

Cranston will tell his life story, from his long years as a relatively unknown actor to how he landed the role that vaulted him into stardom. Cranston said about the memoir, "Walter White taught me a lot-some of it useful, some of it dangerous. With this book, I want to tell the stories of my life and reveal the secrets and lies that I lived with for six years shooting Breaking Bad."

Nan Graham, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Scribner, had this to say about the project: "Bryan Cranston writes the way he acts-with fierce commitment, intelligence and humor. His memoir is about the work of acting and about his role as Walter White, one of the greatest performances of our time. We are thrilled to be publishing this book on the Scribner list alongside Stephen King's On Writing and Steve Martin's Born Standing Up."

Cranston won three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his work on Breaking Bad. He also won a Golden Globe award, and three Screen Actors Guild awards, as well as another Emmy as one of the producers of the show. The memoir doesn't have a title yet, but we think it's going to be a very interesting book.
