Today picked The Fault in our Stars by John Green as its book club pick. The book has been on The New York Times list for two years. It is being adapted for an upcoming film, starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. The film arrives in theaters on June 6, 2014.

John Green stopped by Today to talk about the book and the film. He says he was thrilled watching it being filmed. His experiences working in a children's hospital helped him with the background for the story, but he didn't find a way to write it until he met a 15-year-old cancer patient named Esther Earl.
