Rules of Attraction by Christina Dodd Miss Hannah Setterington made a most unfortunate marriage to a commoner when she was very young. She ran away from the marriage, and concentrated on making her own way in the world. She founded a successful business, the Distinguished Academy of Governesses, which she made into a top source for governesses among the ton. Hannah then sells her business for a tidy sum, and accepts a position as companion to to the earl of Raeburn's elderly, somewhat confused, aunt. When Hannah arrives at her destination, she is horrified to learn that the newly titled earl is really Dougald Pippard, her long-lost husband that she deserted nine years before. Dougald and Hannah have always been passionately attracted to one another and the passion flares again, even though they can barely say two civil words to each other. Meanwhile, the two are in danger; the last two earls were murdered and it looks like Dougald is the next target. Dougald and Hannah have many hurdles to overcome in order to resolve their differences, not the least of which is staying alive.

Rules of Attraction is the third entry in Christina Dodd's popular Governess Brides series (See, Rules of Surrender and Rules of Engagement). Dougald and Hannah have quite a bit of animosity between them, but with her trademark sly humor and skill at dialogue, Dodd makes the sparring quite entertaining. The danger to the couple adds to the atmosphere, and the passion between the two is fiery hot, making for a compelling and enjoyable read.
