Philadelphia investigative reporter Kelly Robolo is recovering from a nasty gunshot wound. Formerly in tight with the cops, she is now Typhoid Mary; her appearance at the wrong time while following a news story got an undercover cop killed, and the local cops have taken to harassing her whenever they see her. When Kelly's good friend, Victoria Bowman, begs Kelly to investigate her husband Jonathan's mysterious disappearance, Kelly reluctantly agrees to help, although she's not exactly in the peak of health. Jonathan was a high-ranking officer of a major casino in Atlantic City, and the wealthy owner of the casino is rumored to have Mob ties. Kelly needs help from the police, and so approaches Detective Nick McBride. McBride is hostile, but eventually agrees to help Kelly. McBride's father was murdered while he was working as a security guard at the same casino, and he is convinced that the two cases are connected. Now Kelly and Nick must work together to find out what happened to Jonathan. But someone clearly doesn't want Kelly to succeed, and is willing to go to any lengths to stop her. Can Kelly and Nick find a killer before he makes Kelly his next victim?
