Sully Starring Tom Hanks Tops Weekend Box Office

Sully won the box office this weekend. The film made $35.5 million to win the weekend and score the 5th highest September opening. Sully stars Tom Hanks as Captain Sully. It was direct by Clint Eastwood and has an A CinemaScore.

Sully was followed by When the Bough Breaks, a thriller starring Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall. When the Bough Breaks made $15 million and had a $6,679 per theater average. It has a B CinemaScore.

Don't Breathe fell to third after topping the box office for two straight weeks. It was followed by Suicide Squad which has crossed the $300 million mark. The animated The Wild Life opened in fifth and made $3.4 million. It had a low $1,364 per theater average. It has a B- CinemaScore. The Wild Life was followed by Kubo and the Two Strings, Bad Moms and Hell or High Water.

Another opening film this weekend was The Disappointments Room and the results were disappointing. The horror film starring Kate Beckinsale made just $1.4 million for a weak $901 per theater average. It has a D CinemaScore.
