Star Wars: The Force Awakens Tops Box Office For Fourth Straight Weekend

Star Wars: The Force Awakens won the box office again this weekend with a take of $41.6 million. This is the fourth straight box office win for the record breaking film. The Force Awakens is already the top grossing domestic film of all time at $812 million and climbing. It is also the third top grossing film with only Titanic and Avatar ahead of it.

The Revenant opened in second and made $38 million. The film starring Leonardo DiCaprio has Oscar buzz. It has been the focus of a lot of attention on social media for its frightening bear attack scene. The Revenant has a B+ CinemaScore.

The Revenant was followed by Daddy's Home which continues to draw moviegoers. The comedy starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg added $15 million over the weekend and has now made $116 after three weekends in theaters.

Daddy's Home was followed by The Forest, a supernatural horror film starring Natalie Dorner and Taylor Kinney. The film is set in Aokigahara Forest in Japan which is known as being a suicide destination. The film had a solid opening of $13 million with a $5,340 per theater average. The Forest has a C CinemaScore.

The Forest was followed by Sisters, The Hateful Eight, The Big Short and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. The upcoming films that could put an end to The Force's reign include Ride Along 2, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and Norm of the North.
