Peter Jackson Meets The Doctor and a Dalek

Posted on November 30, 2015

Peter Jackson just posted the most amazing video which reveals that he is going to direct an episode of Doctor Who. Well, we think he is: it's not entirely clear but that's what he seems to be saying. The video opens with Jackson sitting at a table in his home with his daughter. She tells her dad that Steven Moffat keeps emailing him.

Moffat is the showrunner of both Doctor Who and the BBC's Sherlock, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor Watson. Moffat is worried that it would be shot in New Zealand and take years to finish and he wants Jackson to come to Cardiff and shoot the whole thing in twelve days.

Jackson notes that Moffat has some excellent scripts and some not so excellent ones -- which he attributes to him writing at 3 in the morning when he has an early call on the Sherlock set. At this point Peter Capaldi in character as the Doctor appears and hands Jackson an envelope containing a document that he must sign and return to Moffat. Jackson thinks the Doctor is a crazed fan of The Hobbit and instructs his daughter what to do if he goes crazy.

At that point a Dalek shows up. The Doctor leaves and we hear the Tardis leaving. It's an absolutely hilarious sketch that Whovians will get a huge kick out of. And Tolkien fans's heads are exploding -- on the table is a copy of Tolkien's The Silmarillion which has lots of pink sticky tabs in it. Jackson knows fans are dying for him to direct The Silmarillion and he's clearly teasing us. Or trolling us, we're not quite sure. In any event, it's a much see. Take a look:
