Focus Features has released the first trailer for Sofia Coppola's The Beguiled, which is based on the 1966 Southern Gothic novel A Painted Devil by Thomas Cullinan. This will be the second film based on the book: the 1971 film starred Clint Eastwood. This time Colin Farrell plays a wounded Union soldier in the Civil War.

The soldier is found by a young student at the women's boarding school in Mississippi run by Martha Farnsworth (Nicole Kidman). The women bring the soldier to the school and nurse him back to health. Then the trouble begins. John McBurney is handsome and begins to work his wiles on the women, both young and old. This leads to jealousy, anger and violence.

The film also stars Kirsten Dunst, Angourie Rice, Elle Fanning, Oona Laurence, Addison Riecke, Wayne Pere and Emma Howard. The film was directed and written by Sofia Coppola. Take a look:
