Mick Jagger's Vinyl, HBO's Ode to 70s Rock and Roll

Posted on October 6, 2015

It took a decade to get made, but trailer for HBO's rock drama Vinyl, is finally here. The show is set in the 1970s in New York City when punk, disco and hip-hip were all becoming big trends. Mick Jagger had the idea for the show and Terence Winter (The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire) turned the idea into a screenplay. They got Martin Scorcese on board, and now it's set to be the next big HBO drama.

The show stars Bobby Cannavale as Richie Finestra, the head of American Century Records records. Finestra dreams of making the label the biggest in the business, but the personal cost will be high. Olivia Wilde plays his wife Devon. Ray Romano, Juno Temple, Max Casella, P.J. Byrne, J.C. Mackenzie, Jack Quaid, Ato Essandoh, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen as Devon’s friend, and James Jagger also star. Jagger, son of Mick Jagger, plays a punk rocker.

Bobby Cannavale is a fantastic actor and it looks like he's ready to chew some scenery with the exuberant Richie Finestra. The trailer has lots of sex, drugs and rock and roll and so will the series. Hey, it was the 70s, after all. Take a look:
