Liam Hemsworth Fights Aliens in Independence Day: Resurgence Full Trailer

It's taken a very long time to get a sequel to Roland Emmerich's hit Independence Day, but now the aliens have returned and Earth is in peril once again. It has been twenty years since the aliens attacked and the Earth barely survived. With some new technology, scientists and the military have been preparing for the aliens' return.

The good news is that the terrifying nature of the alien attack has united the Earth like never before. The bad news is that the aliens have also updated their technology and they are back with a vengeance. On the plus side, Emmerich has twenty years of cgi technology improvements in his arsenal. Bill Paxton, Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch and Brent Spiner are all returning for the sequel. Will Smith decided not to return to one of his most popular roles. Instead, Liam Hemsworth, William Fitchner, Vivica Fox, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward and Charlotte Gainsbourg will help save the world.

Supposedly Will Smith wanted too much money to reprise his role as Captain Steven Hiller. But Liam Hemsworth was smart enough to snap up a starring role in what's most likely to be another blockbuster for Emmerich. The trailer has plenty of action and as Jeff Goldblum's David Levinson reminds us, they love to go for our monuments. This one hits theaters on June 24th. Take a look:
