Krysten Ritter and David Tennant Star in Marvel's Jessica Jones Trailer

The first trailer for Netflix's upcoming new Marvel series Jessica Jones is out and it's amazing. Krysten Ritter plays Ms. Jones, a superhero whose career of crime fighting came to a swift and terrible end due to the mind controlling abilities of the Purple Man, also known as Kilgrave or the Devil (David Tennant).

Jones has lapsed into drinking heavily to forget, but manages to make a living as a private detective. But then Kilgrave returns and she knows he's coming for her. Jessica meets Luke Cage (Mike Colter) who is the Hero for Hire and is her love interest and future husband in the comics. Luke Cage is also getting his own Netflix show. He's an ex-con who became superhuman and now fights crime with his super strength.

Cage finds out about her abilities, which are impressive and include super strength sufficient to stop a moving car -- if it's not moving too fast, she says. Carrie-Ann Moss appears in the trailer. She plays attorney Jeryn Hogarth. Jessica's friend Trish Walker (Rachel Taylor) is in the trailer as well. In the comics she is Hellcat, an empowered human.

The show will give viewers a taste of Marvel's darker side. The first episode screened at New York Comic-Con and it was quite violent as well as pretty racy, from reports. Krysten Ritter is the key here: the show lives or dies with her and at least from the trailer she looks like she really nails the part. Seeing Doctor Who's David Tennant as a villain makes this a must see even if the trailer had been terrible. All in all, we're in. Take a look:
