Harry Styles is Young Soldier in Trailer for Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk

Posted on December 14, 2016

The first trailer for Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk has dropped and it's gripping. The film tells the story of one of the pivotal battles of World War II, the Battle of France in 1940. The Allied forces got caught on the beaches at Dunkirk, France, with the Germans moving in. Hitler gave the order to halt the advance briefly, but the Luftwaffe was sent to kill the nearly 400,000 soldiers caught out in the open on the beach.

The Allies gave the order to evacuate Dunkirk, and every seaworthy boat, ferry, fishing boat and ship in the UK answered the call, which is the only reason approximately 330,000 troops made it back to England alive. The Dunkirk Spirit lives on in the UK, in remembrance of the day ordinary people pulled together to get the troops out of harm's way.

The film stars Tom Hardy, Lemmeth Branagh, James D'Arcy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and Harry Styles. Yes, that's One Direction's Harry Styles you see in the trailer as a young soldier on the beach. You might do a double take when you see him clean shaven with short hair. But it's him. The film hits theaters in July, 2017. Take a look:
