Felicity Jones is Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Teaser Trailer

The best part about Disney buying LucasFilm is that it has the money and the manpower to bring us non-stop Star Wars films. Next up is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is due to hit theaters this January. The film stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso. She has a little bit of a problem with authority, as we see in the trailer.

Jyn and a group of rebels are tasked with stealing the plans for the first Death Star and bringing them to the Resistance. The film is set before the events in Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, or the original 1977 Stars Wars film, if you prefer.

Rogue One was directed by Gareth Edwards. The film also stars Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna and Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma. The style of the film seems firmly planted in the J.J. Abramsverse, as opposed to the CGI laden prequel trilogy.

The teaser shows us a rebel who gets in trouble with Mon Mothma, but who joins up to help the rebellion get ahold of the plans for the first Death Star. The short teaser shows us plenty of action and makes us wonder about Jyn Erso. She's been on her own since she was 15. We learn she's forged documents, stolen Imperial property and assaulted Stormtroopers. When Mon Mothma says she's reckless and undisciplined, to which Jyn replies, "This is a rebellion, isn't it? I rebel." How very Han Solo of her.

Is it a coincidence that she looks like she could be Rey's mom? We think not. Oh, and the new siren is super creepy. Take a look:
