Chloe Grace Moretz Runs for Her Life in The Fifth Wave Trailer

Posted on September 2, 2015

Chloe Grace Moretz is one of the last remaining humans on Earth in the first trailer for The Fifth Wave. The film is based on the bestselling book by Rick Yancey. There are three books in the planned trilogy. The second book, The Infinite Sea, was published in 2014, and fans are awaiting The Last Star which will be released in the spring of 2016.

A mother ship arrives and hangs ominously in orbit over the Earth. The aliens have a five step plan for getting rid of humanity so they can take the planet for themselves. The first wave is a massive EMP which wipes out all the electricity on Earth. That kills quite few humans. The second wave is natural disaster, such as tsunamis. The third wave is a deadly Ebola-like virus which is dropped on the remaining survivors by birds. The fifth wave may the worst -- they can control humans to kill other humans.

Chloe plays a high school girl who has managed to survive the first four waves. Her brother has been taken by aliens and her parents are dead. She is determined to survive and find her little brother. The trailer contains so much destruction, it's hard to believe anyone is left alive on Earth -- especially after the Ebola-pooping birds hit. But Rick Yancey's books are thought-provoking and full of twists. And you should never count out Chloe Grace Moretz.

The film also stars Liev Schreiber, Maika Monroe, Nick Robinson, Maria Bello and Ron Livingston. The film was directed by J Blakeson from a screenplay by Susannah Grant (Catch and Release, Erin Brockovich). The film is set for release on January 15, 2016. Take a look:
