Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt Are Evil Queens in The Huntsman: Winter's War Trailer

It's amazing that the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman was even made, given that director Rupert Sanders' affair with star Kristen Stewart broke up his marriage and her relationship with Twilight costar Robert Pattinson. But the studio was solidly behind the project and worked it out. The film is a sequel and Kristen Stewart is nowhere to be found.

But that's okay because the best character from the first film, Charlize Theron's Evil Queen Ravenna is front and center in the second one. This film is like a warped version of Frozen -- there are two royal sisters and boy do they have issues. Not to mention magical powers. Ravenna's little sister Freya (Emily Blunt) gets her heart broken and runs away from the kingdom.

Freya can freeze anything so she is now the Ice Queen of her own kingdom. She spent her time training and recruiting an army of huntsmen that includes the warrior Sara (Jessica Chastain) and the huntsman Eric (Chris Hemsworth). The Ice Queen has one requirement for her warriors: they must never, ever, fall in love. Naturally, that rule gets broken.

When Queen Frey discovers that her sister Ravenna has been killed by Snow White, she gets her army ready to go get Ravenna's Magic Mirror which is very powerful. In fact, it's so powerful that it can resurrect Ravenna. Now they land will have two evil Queens to defeat. The Huntsman, the Warrior and their allies must go to war with the Evil Queens to save the land.

The film also stars Sam Clafin, Colin Morgan, Sheridan Smith, Nick Frost and Sophie Cookson. It was directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, who was the second unit director on Maleficent and on Snow White and the Huntsman.

So, will Jessica Chastain launch an action career after this film? She's certainly playing against type, but she's got an awesome leather outfit and presumably has been training hard for the role. As for Charlize as the Evil Queen, we adore her. The more Charlize, the better. And we think Emily Blunt is going to be amazing as the Ice Queen. In fact, this looks much better than the original film.
