Captain America: Civil War Wins Box Office for Second Straight Weekend

Captain America: Civil War won the box office for the second straight weekend. The film made another $72 million to bring its domestic gross to $295 million after two weekends in theaters. Marvel's latest hit film has already made $940 million worldwide.

Disney's The Jungle Book also continues to draw moviegoers. It finished second and made $17.8 million. This pushed it over the $300 million mark. It has amassed $311 million after five weekends in theaters. The global box office for Jungle Book is now $828 million.

The Money Monster thriller directed by Jodie Foster and starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts had a solid opening. It made $15 million in 3,104 theaters for a $4,832 per theater average. Money Monster has a B+ CinemaScore.

The horror film The Darkness did not do as well. The film starring Kevin Bacon and Radha Mitchell is about a family that unknowingly brings an ancient supernatural entity back home with them after a trip to the Grand Canyon. It has a C CinemaScore. The film opened in fourth and made $5 million in 1,755 theaters.

The Darkness was followed by Mother's Day, Zootopia, The Huntsman: Winter's War, Keanu and Barbershop: The Next Cut. You can find the weekend box office chart here.

Captain America will face some bigger competition this weekend. The opening films include The Angry Birds Movie, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and The Nice Guys. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and The Nice Guys both look like funny movies. It will be interesting to see which one of them can draw a larger audience.
