Avengers: Infinity War Smashes Box Office Records With $258 Million Opening

Posted on April 30, 2018

Avengers: Infinity War shattered box office records with its massive opening weekend. Infinity War had a $258 million in the U.S. and made over $630 million worldwide during its weekend debut. The $258 million opening put Infinity War ahead of Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($245 million) for the biggest opening of all time.

Avengers: Infinity War also has an A CinemaScore to go along with its impressive box office feat. It opened in 4,474 theaters and had an average of $57,599 per theater.

Infinity War was followed by A Quiet Place which added $10.7 million during its fourth weekend in theaters and has now made $148 million. The film directed by John Karsinski is doing quite well despite its small $17 million production budget. A Quiet Place was followed by I Feel Pretty, Rampage, Black Panther and Super Troopers 2.

The films opening this coming weekend are highly unlikely to dethrone Avengers: Infinity War. They include Overboard, Tully, The Desert Bride and The Guardians. Infinity War may easily remain atop the box office until May 18 when Deadpool 2 arrives. Then it will be Marvel vs. Marvel.
