Here is the first trailer for
Jack Reacher the film adaptation of Lee Child's bestselling series about a former MP turned investigator.
Tom Cruise plays Reacher, who is described as "hulking" in the books -- he's 6'5" and 250 pounds of pure muscle. But Lee Child gave Cruise his blessing and is 100% behind him. That was before Tom's marriage to Katie Holmes exploded onto the front pages last week, when Holmes filed for divorce asking for sole custody of their daughter Suri. Now there are dramatic reports about Holmes' fears about Cruise's religion and her desperation to get her daughter away from Scientology.
These are not the kind of headlines that an author wants to see when the movie trailer hits, but Child merely
tweeted that the official trailer is out (a fuzzy Russian trailer leaked over the weekend). So here it is. We love the Reacher novels, but somehow this trailer was not what we were expecting. Or maybe we're just in shock after learning that Tom wouldn't allow Katie do the
Dawson's Creek reunion movie, crushing the hopes and dreams of fans everywhere. Take a look:
